I believe the point is we're paying the 8mill but don't have a say in who we pay. It's bettman and we all would rather it be someone else.

The Bettman beatings are silly. The owners are telling him what he needs to do, he does it. You got a boss, you dont do it, they fire you. You dont like the owners, go away. Its like Gary sat in his lazyboy in NYC somewhere and said, lets see how I can abuse the power that I have as commissioner of the NHL. Lets lock them out. The owners can go to the bahamas and we can really piss off the fans. Y'all need to get a grip.

Both Bettman and Fehr have already stated they will not be collecting their salaries during the lockout....

If Selanne has such a hate on for Bettman and feels so strongly that he is bad for the game ...why has he continued playing until the age of 74 ...because it makes him rich.

The Coyotes saga is a prime example at how well he is at his job. The guys an egomaniac, and is killing the game more than he is growing it.

If they're still paying him this much, it's because he's doing a good job for them.

Of course players won't like the guy, his negociating techniques are from the (frank)ing 80's but results are there so meh.

Bettman has actually done a lot to keep struggling teams in their markets. Look at Pheonix !! Look how he blocked billionaire Jim Balsillie from moving Nashville- and later Phoenix- to Hamilton. And that would have raised league revenue, and Balsillie probably would be the Pegula of Hamilton- spending $$$ like crazy on players.

Bettman might be hated, but he's worked harder than most would at keeping small markets alive. It's just sour grapes by Teemu. Why doesn't Teemu- or some of the other top paid guys- pony up the money like he's suggesting? Sour grapes do not look well on your Teemu..

Exactly. The reason he is paid his salary is to do what owners tell him to do. He is paid to take the heat for the owners.

Just because you buy tickets and merch does not mean you have say in it or that you are paying his salary directly.... do you have a say in who runs your cable company or your wireless service or your electricity company? You pay them for stuff, but have about as equal a say in that too.

I don't get it, you said he keeps playing cause it makes him rich. He signed a deal because Anaheim offered him a contract. I don't see what locking him out has to do with it.
